Sindy Folgar-Llumipanta

Sindy Folgar (she/her) is the Founder and Executive & Artistic Director of AcceptDANCE. She is a dancer, educator, choreographer, curriculum writer, arts administrator and advocate, and consultant specializing in dance education, educational programs, and program strategy. Passionate about student-driven practices, nurturing creativity, and community engagement, Folgar is committed to expanding access to meaningful dance education and creating opportunities for children and communities with limited resources.

As an arts education leader, Folgar has extensive experience developing and directing community-centered dance programs, building partnerships, designing curricula, training and mentoring teaching artists, and leading program strategy and implementation. Most recently, she served as Director of Programs at the Misty Copeland Foundation, where she led its educational programming, including BE BOLD, BE BOLDNext Steps, and BE BOLDER. Previously, as Senior Director of Programs & Partnerships at Dancewave, she oversaw educational programming and partnerships serving young people and communities throughout New York City.

As an educator, Folgar has taught ballet and dance education across higher education and pre-professional settings, including New York University, The Ailey School, Marymount Manhattan College, Peridance Center, and Sacred Heart University. Her teaching practice centers student voice, creativity, inclusive pedagogy, and the belief that high-quality dance education should be accessible to all.

Certified in American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum, Folgar holds an M.A. in Teaching Dance in the Professions from NYU Steinhardt, a B.F.A. in Ballet and Body Science and Motion from Marymount Manhattan College, and a degree in Ballet from Escuela Nacional de Danza in Guatemala.
